The OG Professional model by Officine Gullo has been specially designed by architects Anna Covre and Frederic Tubau for their home in Venice. Luxurious, sophisticated details make this cooking station and kitchen space unique, with a colour scheme inspired by the pink plasterwork of the building that houses their home – the classic hue of Venetian architecture.
The architects didn't embark on the design of the kitchen until the entire living space had been extensively renovated, which originally “had no floor and was only accessible through a tiny door. It was a ‘buffer’ space between the roof and the floor below,” the two designers explain. “Our renovation project made the space liveable, opening it up by removing walls; we connected it to the adjacent loggia and created access to the terrace.
For the kitchen, we wanted a bright, open space with a warm, monastic atmosphere. The intent was to blend the furniture with the colour, look and structure of the loft, creating a visual harmony that allowed the Officine Gullo kitchen – in Pantone Cream Tan 13-1108 – to become the absolute focal point of the space. We paired the specially requested colour with polished copper trims and handles. On either side, customised kitchen cabinetry was placed in such a way that it would enhance the perspective, which is doubled up by a mirror positioned at the back, between the hood and the cooking block.”
This space combines simple lines and retro charm with elegance, to become a shining example of style, poised between the contemporary and the traditional. “Traditional style is expressed through the use of copper – a timeless, classic material that evokes ideas of craftsmanship and traditional workmanship. The refined forms of the furnishings also call to mind a more classic, sophisticated style. On the other hand, modern taste is reflected in minimalist details, clean lines and functional solutions; smooth surfaces, contemporary pink tones, and state-of-the-art appliances represent the modern side of the kitchen.”
Like an embedded jewel, the 288-cm cooking unit is topped by a hood that is customised to match the slope of the ceiling beams. The cooking block is also a technological gem, fitted out with professional-grade equipment. The countertop houses two pairs of gas burners, a central coup de feu, two induction zones and, below, a ventilated oven and drawers at the side. On the other side of the kitchen, a semi-recessed brushed steel sink complements the cooking block through its polished copper details.
